Baldwin County Sheriffs Office Intelligence Analyst | Investigations in Robertsdale, Alabama

INTELLIGENCE ANALYST | INVESTIGATION

SALARY: $21.53 | HOURLY

LOCATION: ROBERTSDALE, AL

The Intelligence Analyst conducts investigations using correct protocols, regulations, and procedures to document, locate, preserve and collect evidence of criminal activity and coordinates informatio sharing within the agency and with appropriate external agencies.

Successful applicant must pass a criminal background check and will be subject to a pre-employment drug screen.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is generally performed in an office setting. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noises.

  • Essential Job Functions
  • Conducts investigations to assist in technical investigation of criminal and no-criminal scenes related to physical evidence collection, evaluation, and utilization, when requested.
  • Performs analysis of evidence, including specialized processing involving physical, chemical, optical, and digital methods.
  • Prepares detailed reports of activities performed during analysis and investigations.
  • Designs charts, graphs and other visual aids to explain associations, contacts, relationships of criminal participants. and activity.
  • Provides testimony on investigations and analyzation techniques in legal and administrative hearings.
  • Performs telephone toll analysis and analyzes application on phone dumps.
  • Provides testimony as a witness in court.
  • Examines records and governmental agency files to find identifying data about suspects.
  • Submits recovered items of evidence to investigative personnel.

PHYSICAL DEMPANDS

The work is generally light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force. Activities could occasionally require heavy to very heavy work, exerting up to 100 or mor pounds of force. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required.

  • Ability to see details at a distance and at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Ability to hear sirens, alarms, the human voice and to accurately identify and distinguish between inputs from short and long ranges and clearly hear radio messages.
  • Possess an audible voice for in-person and radio communications.
  • Possess sufficient body strength in order to perform normal duties of the position.
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surgaces. The amount of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.
  • Handling: Picking, holding or otherwise working with the whole hand.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear and understand at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Manual Dexterity: Primarily with fingers and in picking, pinching or typing.
  • Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions.
  • Reaching: Ability to frequently extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Repetitive Motion: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Speaking | Talking: Ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and concisely through speech.
  • Standing: Particularly for sustained period of time.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer screen/terminal: and/or extensive reading, with or without correction.
  • Walking: ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.

Education and Experience

Requires an associate's degree and (1) year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or Certifications:

Must possess a valid driv r's license and be insurable by the County's Insurance standards.

Special Requirements:

Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card. Must be able to interact with others in a positive manner, have regular and prompt attendance, and respond to calls and request for assistance during working hours, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local, state or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property and institutions.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance: individual differences in ability, personality and interest: learning and motivation.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, legal cods and court procedures.
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology.
  • Knowledge of Sheriff's Office policies or ability to acquire such knowledge in a short amount of time.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of computer programs, to include operation of Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) and various other office equipment including phones, faxes, scanners, printers and copiers.
  • Skills to perform routine trouble shooting on office equipment (computers, faxes, scanners, printers, copiers).
  • Skills in critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Skills in time management.
  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy, compose correspondence.
  • Ability to compose effective and accurate correspondence.
  • Ability to deal with non-routine matters.
  • Ability to complete complex work with minimal instructions, keep records and reference files, assemble and organize data.
  • Ability to work in an environment that requires strict adherence to instructions, standards, and/or procedures.
  • Ability to manage your time to accomplish objectives within a given timeframe.

  • Ability to compute mathematical data, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages with or without a calculator.
  • Ability to comprehend and retain factual information pertaining to laws, statutes and policies, and accurately apply what is learned.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Ability to interact with others in a positive manner.
