This is a job for a [Sales Tax Associate - Franchise Services position with a company located in the Ridgeland, MS area.

Position Summary: Sales Tax Associates are given a wide variety of accounting and consulting assignments under the supervision of different professionals. Performance is judged based on the quality of work, original thinking, application of accounting and consulting knowledge, and ability to meet time constraints.

Position Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with the state sales & use tax laws and minimize assessments from sales & use tax audits. Address any sales & use tax deficiencies with the appropriate locations to ensure future compliance. Compliance functions include preparation of state and local Sales and Use Tax returns using Sales Tax Return Software and ensuring all returns are completed and filed timely and accurately. Assist in various specific tax projects as assigned which may involve research and compliance in sales tax, business licenses and general ledger accounting Review and respond to notices from various taxing authorities. Assist in asset management and maintenance requirements. Prepare and review applications for business licensure requirements. Reconcile various sales & use tax accounts on monthly, quarterly and annual basis. Review, validate, and advise exemption certificate management

Required Experience and Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting. Must be CPA eligible and working towards obtaining license. If already CPA, must be a member in good standing with the AICPA and respective state societies. Proficiency with computer and spreadsheet software programs, or software appropriate to practice area. Experience utilizing sales tax system strongly preferred.
