The Integrated Strategic Solutions Engineering (ISSE) team is looking for an exceptionally motivated Principal Systems Engineer that is passionate about the full systems engineering process, with the ability to thrive in a highly technical environment. Additionally, this position will be responsible for motivating team members, facilitating meetings, cultivating and reinforcing appropriate group values, norms and behaviors, and identifying, analyzing and correcting problems.

As a Principal Systems Engineer Integration and Test (SEIT), you will participate in the full systems engineering process from planning to field support and system replacement. The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the installation, integration and test efforts on ground and aircraft platforms.

Projects span the entire development lifecycle, including pursuit and order capture, system design, requirements definition, requirement allocation, requirement traceability, use case development for software/hardware, systems integration, verification testing and qualification.

The candidate will work closely with fellow systems engineers, Technical Project Engineers (PEs), Product Line / Program Management, software, hardware, electrical and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of the product lifecycle. This position will support defining the future of armed forces NC3 defense systems. This position is located in Richardson, TX.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • You will review hardware drawing packages and provides input on design

  • You will lead hardware and software installation teams on ground and aircraft systems

  • You will lead integration of hardware and software efforts for ground and aircraft systems to include A and B kits

  • You will ensure the development and management of technical risks and develops and executes mitigation plans

  • You will establish, Integrated Master Schedule inputs for SEIT, identifying critical path activities for SEIT with other Integrated Product Teams IPT’s

  • You will lead and develop Integrated Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test procedures for SIL’s, STIL’s, and aircraft systems

  • You will be the Point of Contact for all SEIT activities within the program, and working with other IPT’s, and customer T & E teams at various sites

  • You will lead development and communication of roadmaps for ISSE projects, associated technologies, and product lines

  • You will establish trusted relationships with customers and suppliers

  • You will serve as the primary technology and systems engineering focal point for leadership and the customer for ISSE mission equipment packages/solutions

  • You will be part of SEIT CAM actively managing and monitoring cost and schedule and reporting project status to program management and engineering leadership

  • You will bid SEIT tasks as a result of ECP’s, forecast manpower with the functionals, and be a critical part in the hiring of SEIT members

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • Aerospace/Aircraft Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to matrix across multiple domains and development tasks while supporting project objectives of meeting cost and schedule goals

  • Ability to capture, analyze, decompose, model, translate and create requirements for large complex systems

  • Strong understanding of the installation processes of A and B kits, for development, integration, and testing for ground and aircraft systems (QMS, AS9100, CMMI)

  • Ability to execute across the full Systems Engineering V-model

  • Experience with aircraft level system integration

  • Development of integration and test plans, test cases and procedures

  • Executing product and system level tests to include experience with automation test tools or scripting

  • Ability to travel domestically (up to 25% of time)

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
