PLANNER OR SENIOR TECHNICAL PLANNEROPEN COMPETITIVE RECRUITMENT/OPEN UNTIL FILLEDTWO POSITIONS AVAILABLETHE REGIONAL TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION (RTC) OF WASHOE COUNTY, NEVADA, an integrated transportation agency that serves as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), transit authority, and street and highway construction agency invites applications for the position of Planner or Senior Technical Planner. THE PLANNER, under general supervision, conducts multimodal transportation system analysis and develops planning and forecasting studies as directed; conducts spatial analysis and mapping using geographic information systems (GIS) software, uses specialized travel demand modeling; and participates in agency and community outreach activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, geography, civil engineering, or a related field. And three to five (3-5) years of transportation planning experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills. Senior Technical Planner Salary Range: $80,787.20 to $119,308.80, depending on qualifications. THE SENIOR TECHNICAL PLANNER, under limited supervision, develops and conducts multimodal transportation system analysis; performs complex professional work on advanced transportation planning projects; conducts and coordinates professional planning studies to achieve RTC transportation priorities and regulatory compliance objectives; prepares federal grant applications; conducts safety data management and analysis; uses specialized travel demand modeling and GIS software; and provides leadership in community outreach activities. Responsible for assisting with the implementation of the Regional Transportation Plan. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, geography, civil engineering, or related field and five to seven (5-7) years of planning experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
