Job Summary

We are seeking an Occupational Health Nurse for our Safety Assessment site located in Reno, NV .

Responsible for site clinical management and administration of occupational health services, procedures, and programs for local health and wellness operations. Manage medical aspects of work-related injuries/illnesses and return to work processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide systematic assessment and nursing diagnosis of work-related injuries/illnesses.

  • Coordinate and facilitate health surveillance, lost and restricted time care (related to a workplace injury) coordination and management.

  • Monitor healthcare provider recommendations for appropriateness of accommodations, continuous treatment, and work regularly with CRL Human Resources, Risk Management and Workers Compensation insurer.

  • Advise managers/supervisors on light duty placement, ergonomics, or job modification.

  • Track injured employee care and progress. Initiate and facilitate conferences regularly with physicians, therapists, and insurance adjusters about employee progress.

  • Assist Human Resources and department management with planning for injured employees to return to work from leave.

  • Work with management, employees, medical doctors, and insurance carriers in developing proper accommodation for returning employees.

  • Provide health services in person and virtually, including health counseling and injury prevention education, first aid and medical treatment for minor injuries.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain updated procedures and programs for employee work related medical issues aligned with Corporate Occupational Health.

  • Maintain and safeguard confidentiality of employee health information and Workers Compensation records, understanding HIPAA (or country equivalent) and other privacy laws.

  • Responsible for the administration of care and recordkeeping; for rehabilitation and return to work process, restricted duty, OSHA 300 log (or country equivalent), first reports of injury, respiratory clearances, new employee health screening, vision examinations, audiometric evaluations, and any other records pertaining to OSHA (or country equivalent) medical monitoring programs, where applicable.

  • Partner with EHS&S to maintain records of incidents, injuries, first aid, near misses Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and regularly stratify/analyze these data for severity and frequency, as needed.

  • Monitor OSHA General Duty (or country equivalent) requirements and NIOSH research for worker health.

  • Conduct communications, reviews, and recommendations for workplace hazard detection, worker health and safety improvements in collaboration with plant management.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in nursing, active RN License.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing, laboratory, emergency, outpatient clinical or hospital setting.

  • Certification/Licensure: CPR certified.

  • Experience in case/care management, disability, and worker's compensation, return to work programs, and cost containment required.

  • Knowledge of OSHA (or country equivalent) recordkeeping requirements, medical monitoring programs, and other OSHA (or country equivalent) required programs, such as respiratory protection, PPE, Hearing Conservation, Bloodborne Pathogens.

  • Basic knowledge of safety, ergonomics, toxicology, and epidemiology. Strong clinical background and knowledge of medical treatment protocols required. Current knowledge of governmental regulations and community health principles applicable to occupational and environmental health and safety.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to make critical health decisions in emergency situations and daily decisions dealing with employee health. Ability to make independent nursing judgments, solve problems in collaboration with Occupational Health Manager.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification/Licensure: Certified OccHealth Nurse preferred - COHN-S, CPR certified.

The pay range for this position is $33.00 to 55.00 USD per hour. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
