Interior, US Fish and Wildlife Service Grants Management Specialist in Reno, Nevada

Summary This position is a Grants Management Specialist, GS- 1109-7/9 working in Reno, Nevada for the R8-Reno Fish and Wildlife Office. Responsibilities As a Grants Management Specialist your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Analyzes and assesses risk determination and identifies appropriate risk mitigations necessary for the successful completion of the award. Performs detailed budget analysis on both competitive and noncompetitive agreements to determine the allowability, allocability, and reasonableness under applicable cost principles and their relationship to the objectives of proposed project. Monitors the performance of recipients through review of performance reports, financial status reports, and correspondence with both Bureau and recipient program/administrative staff. Develops and posts notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) to applicable systems. Reviews recipient requests for modifications to the agreement, coordinates and facilitates legitimate requested revisions, and processes applicable documentation for executing agreement modifications. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Only experience and education obtained by 07/03/2024 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualification. Minimum Qualification [GS-07] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-05 in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include: Reviewing grant documents (e.g. proposals, grants, cooperative agreements) for completeness; Entering information into an automated system to track award activities ; Utilizing computer software applications such as Adobe, MS Excel, Access, Word, etc. to prepare documents, reports, or correspondences; Assisting with budget analysis on grant documents.. OR Possess 1 full year of graduate level education in a related field such as Business Administration or Finance. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: To qualify under this option you must submit transcripts (official or unofficial) to verify your education. OR Possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and graduate education as described in B above, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. OR Possess a bachelor's degree and meet Superior Academic Achievement - S.A.A. is based on: (1) class standing in the upper third of the graduating class, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on an official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final two curriculum years OR 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final two curriculum years, or (3) honor society membership as recognized by the Association of College Honor Societies. NOTE: To qualify under this option you must submit transcripts (official or unofficial) to verify your education. Minimum Qualification [GS-09] One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-07 in the Federal service. Specialized experience may include: Ensuring financial assistance duties assigned are executed in accordance with all applicable regulations and guidelines; Serving as a liaison between the federal program and outside entities; Assisting in the administration, modification and termination of financial assistance actions and budget analysis functions; and Reviewing basic financial information from pulled queries. OR Completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, in a related field such as Business Administration, or Finance; or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A above and graduate education beyond the first year as described in B above, when combined, equals 100% of the total requirement. NOTE: To qualify under this option you must submit transcripts to verify your education and include proof of your experience in the text of your resume. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
