Oracle Software Engineer - NetSuite Platform, SuiteScript Team in Redwood City, California

Job Description

Your role

We are looking for a versatile Software Engineer to join our Platform SuiteScript APIs team. Working with other engineers and product managers, you will deliver the cloud's leading environment and APIs for enterprise solution development. You will create client and server APIs that allow developers to automate their business flows and provide tooling and processes to guarantee API consistency in APIs created by other teams.

The team is part of the SuiteCloud Platform, a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) for customizing and extending NetSuite’s core capabilities, and a key driver of NetSuite’s success in meeting the needs of our broad customer base. Customers build on the platform directly or install SuiteApps built on the platform by independent solution vendors.

What you will do

You will be designing and implementing APIs, defining guidelines for API development, maintaining current APIs and helping other teams build consistent APIs. You will be developing in Java, JavaScript and TypeScript, and will be thinking about clean APIs, backwards compatibility, versioning, tooling, testing and architecture.

Our Platform is used by more than 40k companies around the globe with many different requirements, so our solutions should be generic enough for anyone to use them and fullfill their needs. Are you ready for the challenge?

You will work closely with other development teams and departments, product management, user experience, documentation and QA to define and implement new product offerings while ensuring the continued functionality of the existing SuiteCloud Platform.

Your qualifications and skills

  • B.S. or Master’s or equivalent experience in computer engineering or equivalent

  • Drive for software design standard methodologies and clean code principles

  • 2+ years software development experience with Java (or C# or similar) and JavaScript

  • SQL database experience

  • Understanding of HTTP, Internet protocols, web browsers

  • Knowledge of Design Patterns, Object Programming Paradigm and SOLID principles

  • Knowledge of ECMAScript versions and browser compatibility

  • Great problem-solving skills and ability to abstract functional requirements

  • Open mind for discussion and team collaboration

  • Pride in your work and a desire to delight the customer motivates you to take initiative, responsibility and ownership of your projects

  • A self-starter who can take a bit of directional input and then drive projects autonomously (but understands when to ask for help)

  • A positive and resilient personality - you must be able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement

  • Very good written and oral communication skills in English

  • Flexibility to work with geographically distributed teams

  • Valid work permit for USA

Nice to have

  • Experience working in development organizations following dual-track agile, SAFe or similar methodologies
