Microsoft Silicon Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team behind Microsoft’s expanding Cloud Infrastructure and responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. To achieve this goal, the Silicon Cloud Hardware Engagement Engineering (SCHIE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for Senior Software Engineer with a passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  1. Working as a member of Diagnostics development team to develop HW diagnostic software.

  2. Design development, validation, deployment and operations (DEVOPS) of the HW Diagnostic Software modules in C, C++ and C# in Windows Server environment as well as Linux Development environment.

  3. Develop scripts (PowerShell, C#, Python, Pearl, Linux BASH) to support automation of HW diagnostics code for various server topologies.

  4. Design and develop automation methodologies to support the Reliability, Accessibility and Serviceability of new and existing HW platforms.

  5. Work with FW Engineers, Quality teams, Performance Teams, Telemetry teams, Data Center operations and vendors to influence diagnostic development and operations.

  6. Design, plan and influence diagnostic strategy of complex HW sub-systems using industry standard protocols.Other

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python,

  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Perl (Windows Server 2012/16/19),or Linux BASH.

  • Hands-on coding experience required (C/C++/C# in Windows Server and/or Linux environment). Experience should include hands-on scripting experience in PowerShell, C#, Python

  • hands-on experience in solving hardware and software problems in PC, Enterprise server or Cloud Server required (X86 environment and/or ARM64).

  • Passion for remote problem solving in cloud environment is essential.Individual effectiveness skills such as leadership, discipline, time management, decision making, planning, organizing work, summarizing results through technical reports are required.

  • Self-motivated individual, who can work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Able to plan work and work to a plan, adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving Environment.

  • Hands-on knowledge and experience of x86 architecture and Systems Management industry standards.

  • Experience working with HW sub-systems such as BMC, RM, CPU, Storage, Memory, GPU

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
