Microsoft Corporation Principal Product Manager in Redmond, Washington

The Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) Video Team is looking for a passionate Principal Product Manager (PM) to help us take the best video communication platform on the planet into the future. The IC3 Video team is a part of the Intelligent Conversation and Communications Cloud (IC3) organization, which powers billions of real-time conversations from Microsoft Teams to Azure Communication Services. We are on a mission to enable immersive and engaging video experiences with a broad set of scenarios, from one-to-one calls to immersive group meetings and large-scale broadcasts, on any device and network.

As a Principal Product Manager on the IC3 Video team you will shape the future of video communication and collaboration for hundreds of millions of people around the world. You will work closely with engineers, designers, researchers, and other PMs to deliver innovative video features and capabilities that delight our customers and differentiate our products. You will also collaborate with various partner teams across Microsoft, such as Teams, Azure, Windows, and Surface to ensure alignment and integration of our video offerings.

Responsibilities

In this role you will :

  • own various innovation projects that will redefine video communication and how people relate to each other over video calls.

  • work with software and hardware engineers to enable new use cases for video or new dimensions to existing use cases.

  • align stakeholders across multiple teams and organizations around shared or complimentary visions and create incremental value through innovations while driving longer term vision.

  • communicate the vision and progress along the way to executive stakeholders across multiple organizations and keep teams aligned and executing.

  • use continual research insights to inform and influence the plan along the way, and adjust direction based on learnings.

  • influence implementation architecture to assure long term viability of innovation projects.

  • defining goals and metrics for successfully solving quality, reliability, and performance challenges by thinking deeply through scenarios and translating them into a strategy and specifications.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management or related relevant experience in video and or communication technologies.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software developmento OR equivalent experience.

  • 5+ years of technology experience with audio/video technologies preferably in the real-time communications industry either in development or product management.

  • Demonstrated ability to come up-to-speed quickly on a new technical domain.

  • Self-motivated and curious with a growth mindset, with the ability to structure complex problems and think creatively.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communications skills.

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $133,600 - $256,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $173,200 - $282,200 per year.
