Strategic Broker Relationship Leader - Vice President

New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Philadelphia – Hybrid

The Strategic Broker Relationship Leader will be part of the Global Distribution team dedicated to managing strategic brokers on a worldwide basis. This position will be responsible for driving enterprise engagement, developing, and executing initiatives to position AXIS as a market leader in North American specialty retail.

Reporting to the Head of North American Distribution Retail, this role will work closely with the North American Leadership Team and Business Unit Leaders, aligning strategy, engagement, and connectivity across the US & Canadian market. This position will also function as a primary local business development manager for key producer relationships.

Candidate Profile

The ideal Strategic Broker Relationship Leader should be an experienced, hands-on, high energy, and visible distribution thought leader with a successful track record in a top-tier commercial insurance carrier or broker. In addition, this individual should have a proven ability to drive and develop profitable growth within a focused broker relationship model. Experience in the retail specialty market and data analytical skills are a plus.

Work Profile

This role is ideal for individuals based in NY/NJ Region, Connecticut or Philadelphia who are looking for a hybrid work model and external face-to-face meetings with internal partners and clients. The job requires 50% travel across North America.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Supports the Head of North American Distribution Retail in the development of national broker strategies, while owning the local broker strategies to achieve profitable growth.

  • Leads broker engagement for assigned brokers and establish a performance framework for each. Support efforts to execute goals locally consistent with national commitments from brokers.

  • Collaborate across the organization, including business units and executive leaders, to develop and drive growth plans to advance AXIS’s market share, visibility, and relationship with broker partners.

  • Supporting Head of North American Distribution Retail as the Strategic Broker Manager for key broker relationships.

  • Building a holistic management of strategic partnership framework for brokers, including production results, engagement plans and execution of key deliverables.

  • Develop and communicate plans with brokers to ensure alignment.

  • Maintain consistent market presence with regular broker engagement, including virtual and in-person visitation and travel.

  • Collect and share key broker intelligence to accurately align growth opportunities.

  • Ability to drive results by identifying and resolving problems within scope of responsibility and influence upward and downward.

  • Advanced data analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.

  • Support Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system activities by providing relevant client insights and information; Be a champion for the utilization of the CRM system.

Required Education/Training & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • 5–7 years of relevant experience with at least three (3) years in an external producer facing business development role within the insurance industry

  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time.

What we offer:

For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of $215,000 - $265,000. Your salary offer will be based on an assessment of various factors, including your specific experience and work location.

In addition, you will be offered competitive target incentive compensation, with awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
