Description

Environmental Specialties is seeking an experienced BIM Designer with a background in construction design to work with the Project teams to create general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, fabrication drawings utilizing Revit, AutoCAD and other BIM tools. Additionally, this person will be responsible for reviewing BIM (Building Information Modeling) models for accuracy, efficiency, and ease of installation. The daily activities will consist of design development deliverables of mechanically controlled environmental chambers.

Basic Function/Job Description/Responsibility

Responsibilities include working with several departments such as Projects, Engineering, Sales to create general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, fabrication drawings, and Revit models. The role would be responsible for reviewing BIM models for accuracy, efficiency, and ease of installation. Additionally, may have to assist our mechanical company with modelling.

Specific Major Responsibilities

  • Create highly detailed and accurate drawings.

  • Create Revit models and coordinate layouts during BIM meetings.

  • Create a Revit model template and standards.

  • Lead the implementation of drawing/design standards.

  • Review Revit models for ease of installation.

  • Work with the Project team to BIM models. This will include internal and external customers.

  • Work with vendors to have parts and components fabricated.

  • Maintain documentation, files, and drawings.

  • Support various department’s needs.

General requirements:

  • Requires accuracy and ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.

  • Fluent in Revit and AutoCAD.

  • Fluent in computer operations including all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, etc.).

  • Candidate must be mechanically inclined.

  • Ability to read blueprints.

  • Knowledge of good piping practices and installation methods for piping.

  • Ability to self-schedule and estimate workloads/deadlines.

  • Job may require work on weekends and after hours.

  • Job may require some site visit travel.

  • 90-95% of daily work is drafting and designing.

  • Must be able to work in a team environment.

  • Must be able to teach and/or mentor Drafters if needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience with AutoCAD.

  • 5-7 years’ experience with Revit

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel user.

  • Intermediate Microsoft Word user.

  • Knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems is preferred.

  • Knowledge of duct layout and sizing is preferred.

  • Field experience in piping and/or electrical is preferred.

  • Experience with sheet metal design is preferred.

  • Experience in construction design is preferred.

  • SolidWorks experience is not required but would be an advantage.
