Emerson Sr Mechanical Engineer in PUNE, India

Position Summary:

As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer working in the new product development group, you will be responsible for a broad range of engineering tasks from requirements/design/implementation and testing. Our mission is to deliver to the market highly reliable products for which Emerson is well known and our customers demand.

In support of that mission, you will be responsible for rapid familiarization with our embedded products, Product design and technological needs. This role requires a well-rounded skillset with the ability to understand technical requirements, work with technical leads & develop technical solution that meets the requirements as per Emerson’s quality standards. A highly technical expertise with hands-on experience in design, development and testing is critical for this role. This role will require understanding technical requirements to technological assessment to designing a product that complies to regulatory standards needed for the product. A strong exposure to product development life cycle processes, tools & methodologies is crucial to ensure process driven product development.

Essential Job Functions:

Duties Tasks

Design and Implementation

  • Design, implement, and enhance Mechanics for electric actuators, ensuring seamless integration with the hardware/Electronics

Mechanical Development

  • Develop Mechanical designs solutions from concept to deployment, which includes design calculations, tolerance stack up and design simulation of components works as intended

Performance Optimization

  • Analyze and optimize mechanical design.

  • Responsible for ensuring efficient design meets all the necessary performance specifications.

Collaboration

  • Collaborate with other engineers, including hardware, software, and test engineers, to ensure that the mechanical design is compatible and integrates smoothly with all other components of the product.

Testing and Troubleshooting

  • Conduct testing for endurance and performance of mechanical assemblies and improve the performance of overall system

Product Lifecycle Management

  • Participate in all phases of product development including design, prototyping, testing, certification, and manufacturing support

Continuous Improvement

  • Current with the latest trends, technologies, and methodologies in mechanical development and the broader mechatronics

Education / Experience Required:

  • Education: BE/B.Tech, ME/ M.Tech Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • Motivated professional with 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in industrial product design and development. Hands on experience in NPD design cycle for Electric Actuators, Valves gearboxes and relevant test standards.

  • Must have expertise in Gearbox design (Planetary, Worm…) and hold working Knowledge of KISSsoft design software.

  • Candidate must have sound experience of Castings, Sheetmetal parts design, product validation & manufacturability.

  • Candidate must have experience in performing Design calculations, Tolerance Stack-up and problem solving.

  • Proficiency in Solid Edge, CAD PLM, FEA tools

  • Good Knowledge of GD&T, DFMA, FMEA.

  • Knowledge of Standards like ASME, ISO, ATEX, IECx, CSA, FM etc.

  • Self-motivated, capable of working with minimal supervision.

  • Experience of working in global engineering environment with effective communications skills

  • Undertakes work in an efficient and timely manner.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player.

  • Good understanding of Microsoft tools like Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.

  • A willingness to learn is critical.

  • Experience in working principle of BLDC, AC and Servo motors would be added advantage.

  • Experience on working on Creo added advantage.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Generate new creative ideas & design concepts, Idea verification by analytical calculations, sketches, 3D modelling, etc.

  • Convert ideas/concepts into workable models/proof of concepts and validate the designs through prototyping, testing and analysis.

  • Prepare detail designs, drawings, manufacturability, and Bill of materials.

  • Successful industrialization (from detail design to production readiness) of new products

  • Participate in Design Review Meetings, Ideation events and come up with innovative solutions.

  • Adherence to Quality processes, On time delivery & Quality of the deliverables

  • Work with cross functions - marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and other stakeholders to review the designs, update status and meet the project objectives.

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes like Casting/Machining/Sheet metal.

  • Prepare technical documentations, presentations, reports etc.

  • Experience in electronics packaging including PCBA mechanical design, incorporation of sensors and metal enclosures that comply with IEC or NEMA

  • Willing to learn and explore new technology.

  • Should possess analytical approach in solving problems.
