DevOps Engineer

Description

Responsible for building high-quality, innovative and fully performing software in compliance with coding standards and technical design. Design, modify, develop, write and implement software programming applications. Support and/or install software applications. Key participant in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software.

Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the software development lifecycle; Document and demonstrate solutions; Develops flow charts, layouts and documentation

Determine feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development and proposed solutions; Understand business needs and know how to create the tools to manage them

Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards and programming

Recommend state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques and computing equipment; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations; remain passionate about great technologies, especially open source

Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and issues while protecting IT assets by keeping information confidential; Improve applications by conducting systems analysis recommending changes in policies and procedures

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in computer science, engineering or related subject, or relevant experience equivalent.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

Experience working as a software engineer with the following knowledge and experiences are preferred:

• Working in Agile environments;

• Fundamental IT technical skill sets;

• Taking a system from coping requirements through actual launch of the system;

• Communicating with users, other technical teams and management to collect requirements, identify tasks, provide estimates and meet production deadlines;

• Professional software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations.

Must Have

CI/CD Tools and Version Control: Extensive hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab/ArgoCD) and version control systems (e.g., Git), including their administration and installation.

Pipeline Automation: Proven experience in automating CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, or similar tools; proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation purposes.

Linux Administration: Strong background in Linux administration, including a deep understanding of networking, infrastructure, scalability, and availability concepts.

Code Quality Assurance: Hands-on experience in integrating and managing code quality tools like SonarQube.

Enterprise Integration Products: Experience in building CI/CD pipelines for at least one enterprise product. Knowledge of such as MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, or Apigee would be a plus.

Monitoring and Logging: Experience in implementing monitoring and logging solutions using tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace.

Cloud Experience: Experience with AWS/Azure; multi cloud knowledge would be an added advantage.

Artifact Management: understanding of managing and deploying artifacts using tools like JFrog Artifactory.

Security Best Practices: Knowledge of security best practices in a DevOps environment, including secret management, RBAC, and compliance with CIS Benchmarks.

Collaboration and Communication: Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Programming Skills: Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., JavaScript, Python, Java).

Good to Have:

Cloud-Native Ecosystem: Familiarity with the cloud-native ecosystem and tools.

Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Good to have experience with IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

Disaster Recovery: Experience in setting up disaster recovery solutions for cloud and on-prem environments.

Performance Tuning: Skills in performance tuning and optimization of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure.

Containerization: Proficient in containerization technologies, particularly Docker, for application packaging and deployment.

Basic Knowledge of Kubernetes: Familiarity with the fundamentals of Kubernetes.
