Manager of Alumni College & Student Relations needed in Provo, Utah.
Job Summary
This position serves as the Student Alumni Association Advisor and provides overarching leadership and vision for the Student Alumni Association and the Student Alumni Relations Council. This position also drives alumni strategy for Utah, engaging the largest concentration of BYU alumni through creative partnerships and productive student development opportunities and connections. This person ensures student-focused alumni activities are consistent with the mission and aims of BYU. They work closely with major events and marketing strategy to align and synergize on-campus and Utah-based off-campus alumni engagements. They are part of a highly collaborative team of relationship builders, strategic communicators, data analysts and program administrators.
Essential Functions
1. Lead the Student Alumni Association and serve as the association advisor a) Train and develop student leaders and volunteers to prepare them to be future alumni leaders. b) Chair selection committee to choose SAA president and vice presidents. c) Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate 10-15 student alumni events and programs annually. d) Train and mentor more than 100 student volunteers annually. e) Directly manage and lead 6 Student Alumni Executive Officers each year. f) Regularly meet, coordinate and foster relationships with BYUSA and other student life leadership groups (FYE, NSO, YServe). g) Participate in professional associations, such as CASE and CASE ASAP, and benchmark with universities nationwide and in Utah. h) Oversee budgets for each event. i) Work with the Brimhall family and endowment to administer the Brimhall Essay Contest and Founders Day Luncheon. j) Coordinate with Philanthropies for the annual Choose 2 Give campaign. k) Organize and lead the Student Alumni Representative Council (SARC).
2. Create and maintain overall responsibilities for BYU Alumni's Utah-based / Wasatch Front engagement strategy a) Serve on the Alumni Board Wasatch Front Committee b) Engage strategic audiences with targeted events and engagement opportunities (recent grads, local business community, athletics partners) c) Supervise the activities of staff, volunteers, subcontractors and vendors to successfully execute all aspects of events d) Arrange logistics and provide administrative support, including preparation and dissemination of informational materials and communications regarding the event. This may include, but not limited to; audiovisual, marketing, catering, security, supplies, transportation/parking, and guest services. e) Maintain positive ongoing communication with guests, staff and vendors f) Negotiate contracts with vendors who provide products and services g) Monitor budgets and track expenses
3. Manage special projects, provide administrative support, and participate on university committees as assigned
Education/Experience
*Minimum education/experience required: * Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, public relations, experience design, event management or student leadership
*Preferred: * MBA or MPA and 3 years of industry experience.
