Provo City is seeking an Executive Office Assistant to provide secretarial support for the Public Services Division. Civic-minded individuals interested in the City's Public Works Department are encouraged to apply.

The duties involve performing complex department functions such as payroll and time-keeping support, building specialized reports, managing employee information via the internal HCMS, and providing clerical support to the division director of Public Services.

What is the compensation?

(G25) $23.66-$32.62 per hour (depending on qualifications)

  • Perform secretarial, clerical, related incidental, and specialized duties.

  • Organize, prioritize, and coordinate office production into a usable form for management's analysis, review, or release.

  • Act as department administrator for the City’s cloud-based performance evaluation system.

  • Handle payroll-related duties.

  • Train employees on timekeeping system, and monitoring personnel and payroll records.

  • Interpret and enforce policy established by the department director.

  • May train, supervise, and evaluate lower-level secretarial/clerical staff as necessary.

  • Perform bookkeeping and general departmental accounting work.

  • Assist other staff members as needed and perform other related duties as required.

    What are the minimum qualifications?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).

  • Four years of secretarial experience.

  • OR an equivalent combination of job-related education and experience [substituting each one year of post-secondary education/training for six months of experience].

  • A valid, lawful Driver License.

  • Microsoft Office Suite or other specialized software experience may be required.

    What is the selection process?

Applications for this position will be considered in the order they are received. Applications must meet the minimum requirements listed below to be eligible for selection consideration. Prior to appointment, applicant will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
