AV Digitization Lab Manager This position manages all functions associated with the preparation, digitization, and digital asset management of audiovisual published and archival manuscript materials in the Harold B. Lee Library. This position engineers the digital capture of the intellectual content contained on time-based, machine-readable media formats for audio, video, and motion picture carriers alike. They develop and implement hardware, software, and data management solutions and oversee workflows and guidelines creation for audiovisual digitization. This position also facilitates online access to and preservation of resultant digital objects. The incumbent directly supervises and trains 4-8 student employees who perform high-level technical tasks. What you'll do in this position: Project Management and Consulting Audiovisual Digitization Technical Expertise and Management Team Management Digitization Equipment and Software Maintenance and Troubleshooting What qualifies you for this role: Required A firm commitment to the mission of BYU Master's degree in audio or video engineering, library or archival science, or media arts OR equivalent combination of education and work experience in audiovisual engineering, digitization, or project management Familiarity with audiovisual carriers and playback equipment Aptitude and inclination for collaboration and diplomacy with stakeholders and patrons Ability to troubleshoot problems, negotiate standards, and upgrade software Preferred Three or more years of work experience digitally reformatting audiovisual materials Working knowledge of motion picture film and technologies, or film-handling experience Working knowledge of digital audiovisual types, standards, technologies - particularly for implementation in a digitization workflow
