Brown University is undergoing a tremendous growth in the arts, with newly appointed leadership for the Brown Arts Institute, and the state of the art, one of a kind Lindemann Performing Arts Center scheduled to open in Fall 2023. ArtsCrew Members are a key component of the Brown Arts Institute’s operations as well as the larger arts and culture ecosystem throughout Brown University and Rhode Island at large. Members assist in the planning, execution, and evaluation of programs and events at Brown while learning hands-on skills in arts management, production, and curation. Brown University is undergoing tremendous growth in the arts, with new leadership, new academic and artistic programs, and a state of the art, one of a kind Lindemann Performing Arts Center scheduled to open in Fall 2023. ArtsCrew Members will fill several key roles throughout the BAI’s operations including:

● Front of house: Box office, ticket taker, visitor services, etc. ● Back of house: carpentry, lighting, sound, rigging, etc. ● Administration: marketing, company management, production assistant, etc. ● Gallery: curator, preparator, registrar, etc.

ArtsCrew Members are required to fulfill a series of paid skills trainings before filling shifts in one or more focus areas. Members may be trained in as many focus areas as they would like and work a flexible schedule, averaging 5-20 hours per week depending on operational need and individual availability.

Education and Experience: ● Interest and passion for a career in arts, culture, or entertainment ● High school diploma or equivalent, required

Competencies: ● Familiarity with the operating requirements of live events and/or visual art galleries ● Previous experience in house-management, ushering, or other crowd management roles ● Knowledge of box-office CRM systems ● Best practices in theatrical production including stage carpentry, rigging, and light ● Familiarity with production systems including lighting consoles, sound boards, automation systems, and projection systems ● Attention to detail, good communication skills, and ability to work collaboratively with artists and curators ● This position requires a strong commitment to promoting diversity
