Codman Specialty Surgery is recruiting for a Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing – Neurosurgery to be located in Princeton, NJ

Codman Specialty Surgical, a division of Integra Life Sciences, is the global leader in neurosurgical solutions and provides life-saving technologies and instrumentation that are used in a variety of specialties, such as neurosurgery, neurocritical care, and otolaryngology.

The Vice President, Global Strategic Marketing – Neurosurgery leads end-to-end activities to deliver clear strategic direction and execution for the over $1B global Codman Specialty Surgical business. The leader will prioritize investments and innovation to enable sustained, above-market growth, while also providing focused U.S. regional support to execute the divisional business plan and sales objectives.

This position will have 7 direct reports. A mix of Sr. Directors, Global Franchise Leaders, Product Life Cycle Leaders and Global Strategy and Portfolio Leaders

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Business Planning & Execution : Develops and executes impactful strategic business plans, marketing plans and product launches; adopts a “general manager” mindset in achieving plan objectives of top-line revenue, gross margin, net income, and price capture.

Innovation & Portfolio Management: Sets strategic direction in building and executing robust organic & inorganic innovation pipelines and technology roadmaps, inclusive of front-end, stage gate deliverables, post-launch support, and life-cycle management; advocates for new projects and prioritizes growth opportunities, presenting clear unmet clinical needs and business cases.

Customer Insights & Analytics: Utilizes market research tools and methodologies to understand customer needs, generate deep insights and support decision making; includes third party market research, voice customer techniques, advisory panels, competitive analysis and other systematic methodologies.

Strong Collaboration: Delivers results through collaboration with key business partners including field sales, country marketing teams, product development, finance, regulatory, clinical/medical affairs, business development and others; demonstrates strong relationship building with surgeon Key Opinion Leaders.

Brand Strategy: Serves as a subject matter expert for CSS activities, including procedures/ surgical techniques, KOL/customer landscape, innovation landscape and competitive activity; builds robust marketing plans with strong value propositions, targeting, segmentation, positioning, and messaging development; owns the end-to-end lifecycle plan for the category.

Impactful Communication: Demonstrates impactful internal and external communications, with concise, compelling messages, and clear call to action supported by data; prepares and delivers c-suite level presentations; leverages digital tools to expand reach and impact.

Organizational Leadership: proactively leads change, uses influence to challenge the status quo and drive innovation; serves as an ambassador to promote a positive and inclusive company culture; encourages innovation, experimentation, calculated risk-taking and adopts a learning mindset to accelerate growth.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • BA/BS degree is required, desired concentration in Business, Marketing, Engineering is a plus. MBA strongly preferred.

Experience:

  • 15 years of total work experience required.

  • 10+ years-experience in marketing and/or commercial functions within medical device or healthcare-related fields is required.

  • Experience leading strategic marketing for complex businesses is required, including demonstrated experience leading Strategic Planning and Business Planning processes.

  • Demonstrated experience leading a, large company franchise, is preferred.

  • A deep understanding of global regulatory environments, healthcare trends, clinical trials, and health economics is required.

  • Excellent conceptual problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to bring structure and process to vaguely defined problems is required.

  • Strong project management, written communications, verbal, and C-suite level presentation skills are required.

  • Provide decisive and accountable leadership in all areas of global marketing strategy related to customer insight, new product development pipeline, market segmentation, product positioning, KOL engagement, and competitive dynamics.

  • Must be highly collaborative, with a proven ability to lead, operate and influence cross-functionally and to influence without authority.

  • Strong financial acumen, knowledge of corporate P&L levers and drivers is required.

  • Demonstrated expertise with market research methodologies with healthcare stakeholders, including Voice of Customer interviews and outcomes-driven-innovation is required.

  • Prior people management experience required, with proven record of managing and developing employees and talent pipelines.

  • Prior global and/or international experience preferred.

The position requires the ability to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
