Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory Electro-Mechanical CAD Designer II in Princeton, New Jersey

Overview

This position will be a CAD design resource for all electro-mechanical disciplines for PPPL Projects NSTX-U, LTX, Flare and other collaboration projects, within the CAD group of the Design, Analysis, and CAD (DAC) Engineering Division using AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

Support the engineering electrical design group and Facility AC power Group at the laboratory through the Design Review phases of projects as well as maintaining legacy infrastructure. Support CAD group to meet project deliverables and maintain PPPL CAD standards.

Core Duties

  • 5% - Support the Laboratory PEMP goals.

  • 60% - Design, create, modify, and maintain 2D drawings using AutoCAD

  • 10% - Verify drawing compliance to standards for documentation release and at times field verification of existing conditions with field walk downs as required.

  • 10% - Prepare ECN’s and documentation for release.

  • 10% - Generate design related presentation images for design reviews as needed.

  • 5% - Electronic document control - promotes for signature and store 3D design packages.

    Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Technical institute or Associates degree in engineering with 3 to 5 years of experience.

  • In lieu of a degree, candidate must have five or more years of hands-on professional experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • This position requires extensive knowledge and skill associated with the technical specialty. Completing assignments requires a certain level of independence. Electrical work includes AC primary cabling, DC high power (multi- kA, multi-kV) bus to the experimental devices.

  • 2-5+ years of AutoCAD including but not limited to working with dynamic blocks, view ports, paper space, Xref creation/manipulation, and formatting fields into documents.

  • Ability to use other software programs including Raster Design on AutoCAD, MS Office suite and Bluebeam.

  • Experience with Google Suite products – email, gchat, meetings, documents, Electro/Mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork; collaborative spirit.

Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office position. Sitting, computing work, as required field walkdowns of experiments.

Working Conditions

  • Office/dry lab environment; position is onsite everyday Monday – Friday; regular shift
