The Opportunity:
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, AZ is seeking a dedicated Irrigation Technician to join our team. This vital role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems across our esteemed college campus. As an Irrigation Technician, you\'ll play a crucial part in ensuring efficient water usage, fostering healthy plant growth, and maintaining the aesthetic appeal of our campus grounds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation and Maintenance: Execute the installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, encompassing pipes, valves, sprinkler heads, and controllers.
- Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to detect and address issues such as leaks, blockages, and malfunctions promptly.
- Programming and Monitoring: Program irrigation controllers to optimize watering schedules based on weather conditions, plant needs, and water conservation goals. Monitor system performance and adjust settings as needed to ensure proper hydration levels for plants.
- Water Management: Implement water conservation strategies to minimize waste and promote sustainable practices. Monitor water usage, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with groundskeeping and landscaping teams to coordinate irrigation activities with other maintenance tasks and landscaping projects. Communicate effectively with team members to prioritize work orders and address urgent issues.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of irrigation system installations, repairs, and maintenance activities. Keep inventory of equipment, spare parts, and supplies needed for irrigation operations. Prepare reports and provide feedback on system performance and efficiency.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental guidelines, and safety standards related to irrigation practices. Follow proper procedures for handling chemicals, equipment, and hazardous materials. Promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship among team members.
- Provide support to other University departments and needed. Classes or meetings that are targeted to inform the entire campus community and/or specific departments are required attendance to all employees if so instructed by Human Resources or your respective manager.
Work hours my vary and this job is performed primarily outdoors year round.
