Job Title: Shipyard Electrician

Job Description

As a Ship Electrician, you will provide essential services including electrical testing, troubleshooting, and installation related to electrical systems and their mechanical components. Your role will also involve interpreting schematics to ensure system functionality, as well as wiring, cabling, and banding of electrical components. Additionally, you will assist with the operation of temporary services such as power, water, and HVAC, and troubleshoot issues down to the component level.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Portsmouth and/or Newport News, Virginia.

Work Environment

The position is based in a shipyard/outdoor environment. You will primarily support work at repair yards. Work hours include 1st shift (7 AM to 3:30 PM) and, when needed, 2nd shift (3 PM to 11 PM). You must be available to work weekends, usually Saturdays, and occasionally extend work hours 2 hours before and after your scheduled shift. The average weekly hours range from 40 to 55 depending on the workload.
