Job Summary:

The Battlefield, Command and Control and Maritime Systems (BC2MS) Department in Portsmouth, RI, primarily supports programs in the U.S. Navy’s undersea and surface domains including sensor systems, mine countermeasures, submarines, torpedoes, combat systems, and ship architecture/integration.

A BC2MS program is seeking a R esponsible E ngineering A uthority (REA) Systems Engineer who will be the primary technical interface to its key suppliers and who will ensure supplier alignment to the technical execution of the program.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Perform as the p rimary technical interface and POC for major suppliers

  • Ensure alignment of major suppliers to the technical objectives of the program

  • Manage the suppliers in coordination with the Material Program Managers, focused on technical execution of supplier activity (inclusive of supplier development, production and delivery)

  • Coordinate the development of technical responses to supplier information requests and engage subject matter expert s, tech nology networks , and program leadership as needed to promptly resolve issues.

  • Work with suppliers to establish execution plans with a cohesive technical approach and work with program leadership to ensure those plans align to the greater program approach and schedule

  • Identify risk areas related to supplier execution and work with program leadership team to establish /execute mitigation plans

  • F requent external interfacing with suppliers and customers , requiring strong communication and leadership skills with an ability to build robust supplier relationships

    Qualification You Must Have :

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science , Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and 5 of prior relevant experience . In absence of a degree, 12 of relevant experience is required

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required . U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

    Qualification We Value :

  • Past experience in a technical leadership role, e.g. Lead Systems Engineer, IPT Lead, etc.

  • Experience managing and interfacing with suppliers

  • Experience communicating and interfacing with customers

  • Experience with Risk and Opportunity Management

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment

    Clearance Information: This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process .

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
