Continental Senior Mechanical Design and FEA Engineer in Porto, Portugal

Joining the team of Driveline and Electrification means participating in the development of an extensive range of products for premium car manufacturers: from electric machines to inverters, from battery management systems to sound actuators. As a part of our team, you will:

  • Develop highly sophisticated solutions for creative projects.

  • Design metallic and plastic parts for prototypes and series production according to automotive standards.

  • Plan and perform simulations to optimize the mechanical design following all valid guidelines.

  • Analyze and implement specific product requirements into simulation.

  • Keep up to date the FEA knowledge and standards (participation to FEA user group meetings, conferences, training materials/documentation).

  • Use of 3D CAD & PLM to produce models, assemblies & 2D drawings.

  • Be the internal interface for all other disciplines for simulation related topics and questions.

  • Assist on design validation activities.

[Basic Qualifications]

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Materials or Automotive Engineering;

  • Excellent 3D modelling & drawing skills, Creo / CATIA;

  • Strong knowledge of materials science;

  • Experience in simulation and model-based development;

  • Knowledge of materials properties and behavior;

  • Experience with Ansys Mechanical;

  • Basic knowledge with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD);

  • Strong written & verbal communication skills;

  • Fluent English language skills;

  • Capability of presenting design concepts and technical analysis;

  • Capacity to provide technical support to junior engineers.

[Would be a plus]

  • Knowledge of hybrid and electric vehicle systems, interior systems, and chassis and safety control systems;

  • A good knowledge of engineering manufacturing standards and processes for both prototypes and low/medium volume production.
