Job Overview

The Field Carpenter will complete carpentry activities for commercial and residential construction projects under the supervision of a lead carpenter, foreman, or superintendent. This position requires an all-around, skilled self-starter, familiar with job site activities, with experience using a wide variety of tools, construction materials, framing and blocking, and general knowledge of basic fasteners and fastening systems.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School diploma and/or technical education in a construction related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum five years of related experience in general carpentry (frame to finish).

  • Knowledge and experience using a variety of building materials, framing and blocking, fastening systems, and the construction process including carpentry’s role and how it integrates with trade subcontractors.

  • Ability to read construction plans and identify problems.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to pace and accuracy.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner verbally and in writing.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local building codes, as well as construction safety standards.
