Summary:

The Childbirth Education Program Coordinator is a clinically expert practitioner and experienced adult educator. This position facilitates curriculum development, communication, and coordination of teaching activities in the childbirth education program. The incumbent performs duties and tasks in accordance with performance standards established for the job. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or organization proprietary information, and must handle & protect the information in accordance with hospital & system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization. The incumbent is responsible for participation in and completion of all patient safety initiatives appropriate to the position, and conducts all job responsibilities according to the Mission and Values of the Hospital.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans, develops, coordinates, implements, instructs, and evaluates a Childbirth Education Program in conjunction with the childbirth educators, patients and the community.

  • Facilitates program meetings to coordinate educational content of various classes.

  • Reviews course syllabus annually with individual instructors.

  • Facilitates annual review of overall program to assess need for new course offerings.

  • Provides overall coordination for the program and the curriculum.

  • May support instructional and clerical staff.

  • Participates in the preparation of the budget for the program and maximizing revenue for childbirth education.

  • Performs additional duties as required or assigned.

Other Information:

BLS Required. National certification in related field required.
