JPMorgan Chase Sr Lead Software Engineer-Big Data Developer in Plano, Texas

As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology LOB, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications. . Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and reducing work through automation.

Job responsibilities

  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.

  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.

  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.

  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.

  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies.

  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

  • Ensure the data quality, SLAs for 100s of big-data pipelines running daily on-prem and AWS.

  • Lead the troubleshooting, debugging, and fixing production issues. Provide timely communications to Business, Product, Modeling and Tech teams.

  • Build automations and tools to reduce manual tasks and associated toil.

  • Driving technology roadmap, reduce tech debt and work on Technology Lifecycle Management (TLM).

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience

  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability

  • Strong experience in Big Data development tool stack (Hortonworks, AWS), ETL data pipeline implementation.

  • Strong development experience in Java, Python or Scala.

  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (Big Data, cloud, machine learning)

  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight

  • Practical cloud native experience

  • Excellent debugging and trouble shooting skills.

  • Experience in logging and monitoring tools such as Kibana, Splunk, Elastic Search, Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Kibana, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog etc.

  • Experience in Continuous Integration & Continuous Deployment processes using tools such as Jenkins and spinnaker.

  • Collaboration with global team including participation in daily scrum meetings, peer reviews and design sessions.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

  • AWS Certification

  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods

  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle

  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

  • Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
