Amazon Senior Program Manager, Translation Services in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Amazon's Translation Services team is responsible for building the tools and features that support the localization and translation needs of all Amazon businesses. We partner with content owners to translate and deliver content for customers around the world, and we are obsessed with providing the highest quality content in each language we support. We are looking for a Senior Program Manager to create the vision, strategy, and roadmap that will continually improve and scale our services and deliver the best experience for our customers in their preferred language. Key job responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced, results-oriented, and hands-on Senior Program Manager to assist internal teams to optimize their localization processes. Using a data-driven approach for prioritization is a necessary skill due to the ambiguity of the problem space. This role is inherently cross-functional — it requires close collaboration with Content Creation, Business, Localization, and Engineering teams.

The right person will be a collaborative multi-tasker, and will own the communication, coordination and execution of a multi-year program. They have demonstrated experience in working with senior business and engineering leaders to define strategy and requirements. They can ask engineers insightful questions about their services and deep dive into current localization processes. They can clearly and concisely communicate trade-offs to both technical and non-technical audiences.

A day in the life

As an expert in translating content at Amazon, you will:

• Influence Engineering and Business teams to improve their customers' language experience

• Deep-dive current processes to identify improvement opportunities

• Remove blockers to program execution

• Exercise the ability to think strategically and execute methodically

• Provide business and technical requirements to tech teams owning the systems

• Support change management of teams migrating to new tooling/APIs

• Communicate data insights to stakeholders on a regularly cadence, including owning business updates to senior leadership

• Review and challenge data to make data driven decision with sound business judgment

We do this by offering a hands-off-the-wheel service to all Amazon teams, optimizing translation quality and speed at the lowest cost possible. We are in our initial years of truly transforming how language translations are done at the lowest cost in the most agile manner across the industry.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in complex problem solving, and working in a tight schedule environment

  • Experience in communicating with internal content creators, technical teams, and senior leadership to describe software product features, product strategy, and collect requirements

  • Experience in change management and driving adoption of new tools/processes

  • Experience supporting teams which manage highly available, highly scalable systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
