This is a great position to showcase your leadership abilities while driving innovation in autonomous systems, robotics, and artificial intelligence. This is an exciting time to join Honeywell Aerospace and the Advanced & Applied Technology (AAT) team in a highly visible and impactful role.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sr Director of Engineering for Autonomous Systems and Artificial Intelligence who will define and drive the next generation of research, development, and maturation of technology. The Sr Director works closely with senior leadership of the Central Technical Office, across the Aerospace business enterprises, and the Advanced Air Mobility Greenhouse and maintains a strong network of customer technical executives. This role also partners with the Technology Strategy & Innovation organization to develop technology roadmaps, pursuit plans, and partnership opportunities. The Sr Director understands the strategic needs of the business and evaluates relevant technologies, provides leadership to the Autonomous Systems and Artificial Intelligence team, and collaborates across AAT to determine technology needs for autonomous systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive implementation of the technology vision and roadmap for all aspects of autonomous flight in collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Developing and retaining a high-performance innovative team

  • Building additional capability in Systems Engineering, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence

  • Interact with senior-level leaders including Honeywell staff, partners, and customers

  • Driving a management operating system that ensures alignment and project performance in accordance with internal and external stakeholder requirements

  • Developing a robust pursuit pipeline and winning external contracts aligned with technology and business strategies

  • Identifying and engaging with key strategic partners including key academic institutions

  • Persuading internal and external parties to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches

  • Managing department expenses

  • 20% Travel Expected

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering – Electrical, Computer Science, Aerospace, Mechanical

  • 10 years of experience in Technology Development, New Product Development

  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements

WE VALUE

  • Advanced degree in Engineering – Masters or PhD

  • Experience developing technology or products for autonomous vehicles

  • Ability to establish a strategy and execution plan within an ambiguous environment and quickly pivot when necessary

  • Engineering organization management experience with global footprint

  • Strong Technology Development Practices, Processes and Tools

  • Aerospace industry experience & exposure – standards and regulations

  • Demonstrated capability to manage in a complex cross functional business structure

  • Ability to lead by example, maintain positive attitude, big picture perspective, personal accountability
