ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Mechanical Design Engineer II within the Combustor design group, you will gain expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to support our engine programs and Advanced Technology projects. You will be involved in developing tools and processes for combustor analysis and test activities under the moderate supervision of the design team. You may also be involved in product support and manufacturing challenges under the guidance of technical leaders. In this position, you will be responsible for debugging, patching and coming up with novel solutions to accelerate combustor design.

Combustion is a center of excellence dedicated to design and support of cutting-edge combustion systems to meet and exceed customer requirements. We are active in a wide variety of activities from manufacturing, analysis both numerically and empirically, design and product support. We are passionate about our role in promoting sustainable aviation via the design of low emission high efficiency solutions. Due to the cross-collaboration required, applicants must work effectively with design teams, global support and chief engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Willing to learn about Combustion analysis and testing (rig / engine)

  • Maintain and improve workflows for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis and Thermal & Finite Element Analysis (ANSYS Workbench knowledge preferred)

  • Spearhead Tools and Method Development

  • Engage in tool modernization, maintenance and enhancement initiatives

  • Hybrid Work Schedule

  • Travel: up to 5% (US)

  • Reports to: Sr Engineering Manager

  • Relocation support may be provided

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

MUST HAVE

  • 2+ years of combustion analysis and testing and numerical tool support, ie, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)Analysis or Thermal & Finite Element Analysis experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics

WE VALUE

  • Working knowledge, or willingness to learn, Python, C++, C# and Fortran
