Senior Telecommunication Technician
The Senior Telecommunication Technician ensures a high-quality installation, maintenance, and operation/performance of the University of Pennsylvania Health System's telecommunications systems. This may include but not be limited to the support of convergence voice/data technologies, legacy communications equipment, communication circuits, cabling, and wireless technology such as mobile phones and pagers. The Senior Telecommunications Technician is responsible for organizing and completing the technical day-to-day operations assigned through service request work orders and incident trouble calls. Support is often coordinated with internal departments and various telecommunications service partners and carriers. The Senior Telecommunications technician assists with maintaining critical corporate initiatives and business continuity strategies.
Accountabilities
Performs installation of telephones and associated basic programming.
Procures mobile devices for end users.
After hours on call support participation.
Ensures information system functionality meets all clinical and business requirements of the appropriate department and UPHS organization.
Minimum Requirements
Required Education and Experience
- H.S. Diploma/GED And 5+ years of experience in Voice and/or Data Networking or Mobile wireless Technology is required
or
- Associate's Degree Information Technology or related field and 4+ years of experience in Voice and/or Data Networking or Mobile wireless technology
or
- Bachelor's Degree Information Technology or related field and 4+ years of experience in Voice and/or Data Networking or Mobile wireless technology
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications
Minimum Certifications, Registry and/or Licenses Preferred:
- Avaya Advanced Communication Manager Administration is preferred
Required Skills and Abilities
COMMUNICATION: Demonstrated customer service skills
COMMUNICATION: Demonstrated interpersonal/verbal and written communication skills
Skilled in time management and prioritization

Comprehensive telecommunications knowledge of voice networks and equipment. Experience and understanding with basic networking/telecommunications protocols and standards including DNS, DHCP, VPNs, WAN/LAN, TCP/IP,
SIP, VoIP, ISDN/PRI
Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of applications
Healthcare environment experience
Skilled in the support of Avaya communications equipment
