Job Summary Become a part of a team that has experience and proficiency in surgical procedures on rodents, rehabilitation training after spinal cord injury, testing and analysis of behavioral activity. Will assist research team in performing basic veterinary technical procedures and basic research approaches applied to small animal species including several tests of motor and sensory function. Will be responsible for scheduling use of common equipment rooms by different lab groups and for maintaining good working condition of this equipment. Essential Functions Performs daily health assessments, diagnostic evaluations and clinical treatments of laboratory animals. Collaborates with veterinary and basic research staff, provides surgical assistance, operates medical or laboratory equipment, provides support on technical procedures for investigative staff, maintains awareness of active research projects, reviews Animal Use Protocols, and follows guidelines and regulations for animal care and use. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study or  experience with animal behavioral kinematic data collection and analysis 1+ years of Experience Experience with pre- and post-operative handling and care of lab animals is required. Preferred Qualifications Proficient in observation and treatment of daily health concerns of rodents and at ease making basic veterinary decisions about animal care issues. Experience with animal anesthesia protocols and administration of injectable drugs is preferred. Compensation for this grade ranges from $14.10 - $21.15 per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
