In 2020, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP launched Mobilizing for Equality (MFE) to reflect the firm's commitment to pursue racial justice more directly, effectively, and vigorously. Our firm's management created a global Leadership Committee and 12 working groups, composed of volunteer lawyers and professional staff from around the firm, to develop substantive projects related to different aspects of racial justice. The firm's pursuit of racial justice must be long lasting and impactful.

To sustain our efforts, we are seeking an MFE Coordinator to support this volunteer program. Serving as a key member of the Employee Engagement team, this position will be responsible for providing a broad range of administrative, substantive, and program management support to the firm's racial justice initiative. Reporting to the Senior Director of Diversity & Inclusion and resident in one of the following cities: New York, Washington DC or Philadelphia, this position will support our MFE Chairs and Co-Chair, MFE Leadership Committee, all working groups, and Senior Manager of Community Engagement with the management and promotion of this firmwide effort.

A hybrid in-office/remote working schedule is available for this position.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership Committee

Coordinate and execute regular Leadership Committee meetings by developing meeting agendas, organizing speakers, assembling and circulating meeting materials, and overseeing all logistical details.

Attend every Leadership Committee meeting to conduct roll call, write meeting minutes, and track open items for resolution.

Ensure follow-up from meetings as necessary by convening appropriate working group leads and internal contacts to strategize on an action plan.

Liaise with MFE Leadership about working group requests and programs.

Oversee and coordinate virtual programming and collaboration tools, including set-up and technology support.

Working Groups

Track and assign all new volunteers to working groups, monitor volunteer and leadership transitions, and maintain up-to-date volunteer and leadership rosters.

Serve as a project coordinator vetting all content, events, programs, and communications requests, ensuring that all requests go through the appropriate approval channels.

Participate in working group meetings and provide program management support as needed.

Establish new and manage existing nonprofit and community-based partnerships as well as handle logistics for the firm's literacy and mentorship volunteerism programs.

Assist with firmwide campaigns such as volunteer recruitment for World Social Justice Day and engagement activities for Juneteenth.

Oversee administrative liaisons and content managers by coordinating and leading regular meetings and training sessions, troubleshooting questions/concerns, and ensuring that each working group has appropriate resources.

Serve in an advisory capacity to the Measuring Our Progress and Coordinating Our Efforts (MOPCOE) team leads on bi-monthly review calls to ensure efficient communication and organization of firmwide initiatives across working groups.

Support development and execution of annual Responsible Business Report, related surveys, and collateral.

Other

Develop and distribute MFE communications on behalf of MFE Leadership as needed.

Administer MFE email box, manage related email distribution lists, and send out firmwide communications using Outlook.

Oversee maintenance of MFE intranet pages.

Coordinate response to survey requests and requests for proposals (RFPs) as they relate to MFE efforts.

Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's de ree required.

Prior administrative work and program management experience in a law firm or other legal setting; at a nonprofit or charitable organization; or other professional services setting preferred.

A people-person with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships as well as interact effectively with a variety of people, including senior professionals.

Passion for racial and social justice.

Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to confidential information.

Exceptional organizational and project management skills are essential with a focus on attention to detail, problem solving, and the ability to multitask.

Excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills including ability to tailor written work product to appropriate audience.

Technologically adept and proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Teams and database applications. Ability to quickly learn new platforms and technologies.

Flexibility to work occasional overtime is required.

For positions in NY, the salary range for this job posting is $61,639.00 - $98,622.25.

The base salary or hourly wage range for this position will be determined during the interview process and will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to prior experience, relevant expertise, current business needs, and market factors. The final salary or hourly wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. Additionally, salary or hourly wages may be only part of the total compensation package. The total compensation package for this position may also include a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
