Wistar is committed to accelerating research advances from bench to bedside through brilliant science and distinctive approaches to collaboration among scientific investigators and academic and industry partners. Wistar's dynamic environment supports the advancement of discoveries that will change the future of human health.

The Wistar Institute has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Rahul Shinde. The Shinde lab focuses on investigating mechanisms of metabolic control of macrophages during cancer progression. The lab uses a combination of in vitro methodology, genomics/proteomics approaches, mouse models of tumorigenesis, and patient-derived materials to study and target pathways contributing to the disease. In addition, the Shinde lab is interested in dissecting the mechanistic link between the gut microbiome and immune responses that influence disease development.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) or should be close to obtaining their doctoral degree in biomedical sciences or a related field.

The ideal candidate will have experience in immunology, cancer biology, macrophage function, mouse modeling, and relevant experience with the gut microbiome. Hands-on experience in the areas of flow cytometry, macrophage/lymphocyte culture, adoptive T cell transfer, molecular biology (RNA/protein analysis, cloning, transfection), microscopy, and conducting surgeries on mice is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with familiarity with bioinformatics tools and analysis. The successful candidate should be highly motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to work independently as well as in a team with professional integrity is highly desirable.

In addition to submitting the online application, interested applicants should submit a cover letter summarizing past and future research interests, curriculum vitae, contact details of two references, and reprints of two supporting publications (optional) to Dr. Rahul Shinde at rshinde@Wistar.org.

The Wistar Institute is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI). All candidates must share our commitment to DEI.
