Job Summary This part-time (0.3 FTE) 12-month educator position with expertise in Clinical Medicine will serve as the faculty co-lead for this course on the Philadelphia campus of Drexel University College of Medicine. DUCOM's Foundations and Frontiers curriculum prepares students to provide humanistic care to a diverse population as an integral member of a health care team. The 18-month Foundations phase includes multidisciplinary, integrated basic and clinical science courses that utilize a combination of technology enhanced instructional formats to deliver course content as well as in-class team-centered instructional activities that extend and apply knowledge to clinical problems. The course "Foundations of Patient Care-2" extends over the 2nd year of  Foundations phase and is a major platform for the acquisition of competencies in history and physical examination, principles of ethical decision making, biopsychosocial model of illness and professionalism formation. Candidates must demonstrate willingness to contribute to multidisciplinary medical instruction in small group and large group settings. The position will be filled at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor commensurate with experience and accomplishments in medical teaching. Essential Functions Work with co-course directors to develop new content and cases for student learning when appropriate for the course. Work with co-course directors to teach small groups in the courses including history and physical exam sessions, biopsychosocial topic sessions and bioethics sessions. Assist in recruiting and developing additional faculty for small group sessions when needed in both FPC 2. Work with co-course directors in training selected standardized patients as Patient Instructors for clinical skills sessions.  Prepare training materials for them to be able to teach our students in workshops and play their patient roles for histories and physicals.  Be present for all focused history and physical exam sessions. Recruit and communicate with and train 4th years for the educational elective that partners with FPC2. Attend/provide training sessions for all 4th year elective activities. Oversee, facilitate and edit content for problem focused history and physical exam sessions. Work with co-course director to oversee all evaluations done by 4th years and faculty. Facilitate physical exam workshops including breast, pelvic and genitourinary exams. Will assist with other course responsibilities as necessary to ensure smooth operation of the course Will assist with editing and updating content for course website on Blackboard. Will attend appropriate meetings when possible including ECC 1, 2, Clinical skills working group and Course Directors meeting. Develop and facilitate interprofessional learning experiences Engage with faculty in different health professional schools to develop and implement learning experiences with a focus on the IPEC core competencies Identify, track and support students in academic difficulty within the course/thread. Maintain a scholarly focus in education. Required Qualifications Minimum of a MD. Minimum of five years' experience teaching in a graduate or medical education setting with evidence of effective teaching. Preferred Qualifications MD/DO with expertise in Clinical Skills and Physician-Patient communication. Knowledge of education pedagogy, assessment, and trends in medical education. Strong interpersonal skills. Passion for and commitment to medical student education. Physical Requirements Typically sitting at a desk/table Typically standing, walking.
