Community Recovery Alliance Program Coordinator and Peer Recovery Coach in Petoskey, Michigan

Position Summary

Candidates should have already completed a Peer Recovery Coach training program (CCAR, MDHHS, etc.). Ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of professional coaching experience. 

This is a full time, hourly position, based at the Center in Petoskey, Michigan. Access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license are required. Normal hours are Monday through Friday with periodic nights or weekends as needed for special events. We will be adding evening meetings, so one evening shift a week is expected to start during January 2023. 

This position will be responsible for coordinating the Center and Center activities, providing short-term Recovery Coaching to our visitors, and managing our Re-Entry Support Programs.

*Does this describe you? * 

  • Available to start around early November. 
  • Experienced Peer Recovery Coach. Preferred 1 year + as a professional coach, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in event planning, group facilitation, lesson planning a plus. 
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
  • Have lived experience of recovery and are familiar with the recovery process and experiences. 
  • Use clear, compelling, correct written communication. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook  
  • Can learn integrated software systems.? 
  • Knowledge of the Recovery Community? 
  • Willing to work with many types of recoverees, respect the diversity of all recoverees, and honor all pathways to recovery, including harm reduction.

*Some of the activities, roles, and responsibilities that will be filled by this position include: * 

Our two Program Coordinators share responsibility for our Community Center and Re-Entry programs.

This position is based at the Community Center providing walk-in coaching, as well as scheduled coaching sessions (in person and online). 

Leading Recovery Groups. Currently we host daily noon meetings, and each coach is responsible for spearheading 2 of the groups. Starting winter 2023/24, we will expand to offer 1-2 evening meetings which the coaches will share responsibility in leading. 

Greet visitors to the Community Center for coaching, meeting, events, etc.  

Assist visitors with basic coaching services, as well as assisting visitors with services such as using computers, signing up for MI-Bridges, connections/referrals in the community, etc. 

Organize, promote, and host events at the Community Center.
