Exciting Opportunity for an Engineering & Project Director

We are searching for an experienced Engineering & Project Director to join our talented team based in Peterborough .

As an Engineering & project Director, you will provide effective, visible and inspirational leadership as a member of the Senior Management Team for the business unit and to be accountable for the Engineering and Project Management capability of the business. You will be accountable for the New Build revenue, margin and cash flow and ensure the effective governance, design authority, planning, resourcing and quality assurance of all activities. You will also drive the highest levels of customer satisfaction as a result of the outputs and actions of the Engineering and Projects Team and look to Inspire and develop a high-performance team.

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week. We offer hybrid working for this role which will allow you to enjoy the balance of home working and collaboration time with the team in our modern, friendly offices which include free onsite parking.

What Needs To Be Done?

  • To drive and uphold the highest levels of safety and well-being within the team and the wider business.

  • Ensure a zero-accident culture is maintained through a focus on all safety-related matters.

  • Allocation of the right people at the right time to fulfil the requirements of our customer commitments.

  • Accountable for the overall productivity of the Engineering Team resources in line with the agreed targets for productivity and COPQ (cost of poor quality).

  • To own and ensure the accurate and timely provision of the New Build annual operating plan, forecasts and latest views for all revenue, margin and cash.

  • Ensuring that both contractual and non-contractual commitments towards customers and other stakeholders are achieved and that their expectations are managed appropriately.

  • “Gate keeper” for the gateway process used on major projects.

  • Owning the Engineering and Project Management capability, governance, design authority, process and all associated activities.

  • Overall accountability for the development and execution of the Business Strategy for Engineering and Project Management.

  • Develop a high performing team including the but not limited to the professional development of team members and effective performance management.

To be successful you must have …

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering subject for the role along with relevant professional qualifications for the role.

  • Extensive previous experience leading engineering and project management functions at a senior leadership level.

  • Extensive previous experience working for an OEM supplying similar bespoke rotating equipment products to the oil and gas, petrochemical and power generation industries.

  • Previous experience providing bespoke and complex engineering solutions and support within a manufacturing and aftermarket business.

  • Strong commercial acumen based upon extensive previous experience having commercial responsibilities similar to this role.

  • Highly experienced leading teams including coaching, developing and recruiting team members.

It’s a bonus if you have (but not essential) ..

  • Masters degree in relevant engineering, manufacturing or management subject for the role.

  • International customer experience

  • Prior experience with steam turbines

  • Working within a business with corporate structure
