We are currently looking for a Plant Operator/ Sr. Plant Operator for our Petal, MS office.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

JOB SUMMARY:

The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will include the operations and maintenance of the Petal Gas Storage facilities in Petal, Mississippi. The Plant Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of natural gas storage facilities, gas treating facilities, compressors and pipeline systems via both computer control center and onsite operations. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Operate natural gas plant and pipeline equipment including, but not limited to reciprocating, turbine and electric drive natural gas compressors, TEG dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, valves, gas measurement equipment, leaching plant facilities, etc.

  • Operate plant equipment & system.

  • Start-up/Shutdown of plant equipment and pipelines.

  • Adjust controls to operate equipment in the recommended or prescribed operating ranges.

  • Visually inspect equipment and controls at periodic intervals to detect malfunctions or need for repair, adjustment or lubrication.

  • De-pressure equipment and pipelines.

  • Operate valves.

  • Monitor plant and pipeline operations and respond to emergency or upset conditions.

  • Implement safe work practices and participate in proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, public and environment.

  • Monitor gas pipeline system through SCADA.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and record keeping requirements are met and continually monitored.

  • Read, monitor and record various operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, hours of operations, fuel consumed, water levels, etc.

  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment including, but not limited to reciprocating, turbine and electric natural gas compressors, TEG dehydrators, fluid separation equipment, leach plant equipment, valves, etc.

  • Monitor, remove and replace filters, oil, chemicals, other lubricating fluids, gaskets, and valves, as needed.

  • Develop job plans, prepare work permits, monitor contractor activities, etc. as needed.

  • Work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule

    The successful candidate will follow all BWP safety rules, environmental and OSHA regulations, document all maintenance activities and operational data.

    REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • One to five years of gas pipeline operations and maintenance experience or equivalent petrochemical / oil industry experience.

  • Strong mechanical and electronic aptitude

  • Strong safety culture

  • Strong computer skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

  • Excellent verbal and communication skills

  • Excellent problem-solving skills

  • Valve O&M experience

  • Organization and record keeping ability

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for a minimum of 50 feet, the ability to work in extreme weather conditions, and the ability to stand for long durations and climb stairs and ladders.

  • Ability to operate valve control wheels with a minimum of 50 turns.

  • Valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, and the ability to pass auditory and optic exams

    PREFERRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Three (plus) years of gas pipeline operations and maintenance experience.

  • Natural Gas or NGL Storage experience, preferably in Salt Cavern facilities.

  • Natural Gas Compression experience

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

    PREFERRED EDUCATION:

  • Associate Degree in a related field
