Community Health Systems Sterile Process Tech II in PERU, Indiana
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the SPD Manager, cleans, sterilizes, assembles, packages, labels and distributes equipment and supplies utilized in patient care procedures. Assumes staff training and orientation responsibilities; serves as a resource to Technician I and serves as a team leader in leader’s absence, as assigned.
Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications:
Registration/Certification/Licensure: Completion and passing of registered central service technician course and IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification exam. Annual recertification with 12 CEU’s. Current certification must be maintained.
Experience: A minimum of 12 weeks of related experience is required.
Education: Minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED).
Job Knowledge & Skills:
1) Demonstrates working knowledge of the English language, verbal and written.
2) Demonstrates working knowledge of patient supply processing, set-up and distribution.
3) Requires well developed analytical and organizational skills to assemble, clean, and sterilize patient care supply, instrument sets, procedure trays, specialty carts and surgery tables to meet particular unit and physician needs and follow up as needed to address related concerns.
4) Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively
with all internal and external unit customers, as needed, consistent with hospital/departmental
customer service standards.
