POSITION SUMMARY :

The primary focus of the Manufacturing Quality Manager is ensuring that product and process controls are executed per the control plan in conjunction with the Plant’s production & engineering teams. Drive continuous improvement in his/her area of supervision. Lead Non-conformance management process in the area assigned and ensure scrap costs and yield performance are attaining AOP goals. Leads 8D problem resolution process for internal and external raised concern which includes close interaction with Manufacturing Quality, Process and Production Engineers, Design Engineers as well as Supplier Quality Engineers on the problem resolution updates.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Ensure the ongoing compliance to the production control plans including the maintenance of the document(s) through the life of the program.

  2. Confirm the related test/measurement equipment is used properly, calibrated, variation study in terms of MSA, and maintained, including “red rabbits” for Poka Yoke verification.

  3. Collect, review, and react to data collected within the manufacturing process per the control plan. Ensure the update and maintenance of the capability studies (SPC data collection). Supports continuous improvement efforts.

  4. Responsible for the approval and maintenance of quality documentation on behalf of the plant quality leader as part of a cross functional team for the production line/cell such as control plans, work instructions, boundary samples, rework/inspection instructions, etc.

  5. Ensures compliance to the containment, rework, and inspection processes for non-conforming product. Leads disposition of non-conforming product and ensures timely disposition.

  6. Quality lead on problem solving team and for Fast Response System. Responsible for driving the problem-solving process including tool use, confirming 8D content and meeting customer and/or internal response time requirements.

  7. In the case of non-conforming products, facilitates the problem-solving process with the relevant team.

  8. Coordinate necessary internal sorting activities.

  9. Resolve quality issues of capability, tolerancing, and materials related issues.

  10. Resolve quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing resources.

  11. Perform process capability studies on existing processes. Review and analyze results. Recommend changes to processes based upon findings and perform follow up to verify effectiveness.

  12. Participate in the modification of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

  13. Functionally works with the Manufacturing Quality Engineers to ensure their training and qualification. Responsible for the inspection/audit process and the output of the inspections/audits.

  14. Has the authority and the responsibility to stop any process or product delivery in case of a non-conformance of customer expectations, safety, or environmental risks.

  15. Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, code of conduct, legal stipulations, environmental, 5S policies, and general duty of care.

  16. Other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT :

  • Location: Penang Science Park, Simpang Ampat Penang.

  • AE is a highly dynamic, technically challenging, and fast-paced manufacturing work place.

  • Works in a Standard office environment, fast-paced & busy manufacturing areas / labs, and clean-room environment

QUALIFICATIONS :

Essential :

  • Strong communication and coordination skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings to ensure the understanding of the agreed quality parameters and product specific requirements.

Desirable :

  • Experience in relevant manufacturing processes and technologies.

  • Understanding of practical problem-solving tools using 8D methodology :

  • Is-Is Not

  • Fishbone diagram

  • Brainstorming

  • Affinity Diagrams

  • 3x 5 Why

  • Experience in Assembly processes

  • Working knowledge quality tools, and process/production control methods such as :

  • FMEA

  • Control plans

  • MSA

  • Capability study Cpk

  • SPC

EXPERIENCE :

Essential :

  • Min 10 years’ experience in industry

  • Experienced with working in a faced paced, high mix low volume manufacturing environment

  • Experienced with manufacturing quality or product quality management

  • Knowledgeable of SPC, Variation Control, and MSA or GR&R techniques

  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality systems and copy exactly requirements

Essential :

  • Management experiences is preferred.

  • The 6-Sigma blackbelt certify is preferred.

EDUCATION :

  • Bachelor Science in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • MBA – desired.
