Our Patient and Equipment Transport Department ensures safe and efficient patient mobility and medical equipment management within the hospital. Patient Transport provides exceptional, compassionate patient care, ensuring patient comfort and safety by assisting their movement within the hospital. The Patient Equipment Management Solutions team offers a strategic approach to handling the facility's distribution, maintenance, and overall management of medical equipment.

Through two distinct services, patient transport and patient equipment management, each department is tasked with delivering outstanding best in-class service metrics for response time, quality care and patient experience and ensures that safety and quality service is provided for every patient at Stanford Health Care.

What you will do

  • Active Daily Management – Plan, organize, and direct the work of the of a defined department including strategic planning, establishing goals and objectives, controlling costs, and improving efficiency and service delivery effectiveness. Apply Lean concepts and tools to promote ownership of operational performance and reinforce continual improvement efforts.

  • Develops, coordinates, and enforces systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.

  • Financial – utilize internal and external benchmarking to develop department budgets and targets. Oversee all expenditures, monitoring department costs and adjusting as appropriate. Use various data sources to create a set of analytics and reports that provide insight into department performance.

  • Technology – leverage productivity and staffing modelling systems to actively and dynamically manage daily routines (position control). Create models from the analytics and technology to correlate and predict volumes and customer requirements.

  • Leads and supports the implementation of organizational goals and initiatives. Responsible for monitoring progress against goals.

  • Supports the professional and leadership development of direct reports. Fosters a culture of continuous skills development and continuing education in the department.

  • Meets with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders to maintain collaborative partnerships and to ensure service level agreements are met. Participates in multi-disciplinary committees to support improvements in care coordination.

  • Maintain quality service and leverage operational flexibility to enhance coordinated care.

  • Oversee the management and procurement of department equipment.

  • This position may require on-call availability during non-standard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs and respond to emergencies as necessary. The employee may receive additional compensation if assigned on call responsibilities.

Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university preferred. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of a degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.

Experience Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience, including at least one (1) at a senior level within a healthcare institution with responsibility for managing and executing business process change initiatives.

  • Proven effectiveness at influencing senior executives and delivering cross functional global initiatives.

  • Able to operate at a strategic, tactical, and detailed analytical level.

  • Excellent communicator able to express themselves succinctly and with clarity.

  • Resilient and able to deal with ambiguity, changing priorities and differing needs of the business.

  • Results-oriented “change agent” who can understand different points of view and effectively manage big-picture and tactical execution.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, hard-driving culture with a lean structure, demonstrated ability to drive a culture of performance.

  • Ability to collaborate, motivate and lead globally through others and influence the achievement of common goals.

  • Infection Prevention/HAI knowledge

  • Knowledge and experience in improving patient satisfaction and driving compliance to HCAHPS and Joint Commission.

  • Ability to manage a large team in a unionized environment.

  • Technical expertise in Patient Transport and Patient Equipment and processes in a high-volume healthcare setting.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of personnel records and patient information and to handle sensitive matters discreetly, understanding and applying HIPAA regulations, hospital and department policies and procedures.

  • Knowledge of departmental budgets, trend utilization and use of historical data. Analytically strong and able to interpret data to develop concepts to drive improvement.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $70.43 - $93.34 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
