As Production Operator I, you are responsible for safely handling and the maintenance of high pressure cylinders according to compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and the standard operating procedures of Airgas. You will assist with loading and unloading trucks and will operate a forklift and other equipment. You will be trained to identify cylinders by size, label, and color and will be responsible for sorting cylinders by valve type/gas service and size, visually assessing (visual inspection) cylinders, and preparing cylinders for testing for testing.

In particular, you will:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on the cylinder stamping and paint systems.
  • Inspect cylinders following standard procedures as required by government, Airgas, and distributor standards. Conduct a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as checking for visual defects, examining valves, safeties, and caps.
  • Prepare high pressure cylinders for testing by other associates at the maintenance plant. Provide backup assistance with the production team moving cylinders for staging, loading, unloading, and painting cylinders.
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of cylinders on and off pallets, trucks, and tractor trailers. Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment. Handle high-pressure industrial, medical and specialty gas cylinders. Sort and organize pallets of hazardous materials on a daily basis.
  • Attend all training, including: Safety, DOT, Basic cylinder handling, AGU, UE and Hydrotesting.
  • Perform Valving and de-valving tasks.
  • Operate cylinder shot blasting equipment and paint cylinders; operate cylinder inverter and dryer.
  • Perform daily general housekeeping responsibilities and secure all equipment, tools, and supplies at the end of each work day.
