Position Overview

Prepare detailed cost estimates for the manufacture of precision metal castings and machined components for the defense, aerospace and specialty equipment industries.

Primary Responsbilities:

• Analyze customer requirements, technical drawings, CAD and associated specifications for the manufacture of precision engineered metal components
• Develop a scope of work, tools and equipment required for each project
• Determine labor, material, process hours and outside costs needed for each project
• Ensure an accurate and timely response to customer Request-for Quotes
• Collect cost data and solicit feedback from functional team members and subcontractors
• Utilize and maintain company provided estimating software
• Regularly review and update costing data to endure accuracy
• Develop methods and practices to improve quoting and improve quote output
• Become familiar with Barron Industries' lost-wax investment casting process and related manufacturing services
• Understand, follow, and implement AS9100 systems and procedures as appropriate to your department and/or area of responsibility

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years cost estimating experience in a manufacturing environment
• Experience with metal casting or machining preferred but not required
• Proficient in reading technical blueprint drawings and understanding GD&T
• Knowledgeable in the use of CAD software
• Able to read and understand engineering documents
• Strong math skills
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, suppliers and customers
• Knowledge of Microsoft office including Excel
• Engineering degree helpful but not required
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
