WSP USA Design Technician, Food Services & Hospitality in Ottawa, Ontario

The Opportunity:

WSP Food Services & Hospitality division is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with extensive Revit and BIM 360 experience. The role is an exciting challenge for the right person, with the ability to grow and develop within our amazing team. You will be responsible for developing the Revit model alongside a team designing some of the most prestigious hospitality projects globally.

As a Design Technician, you will assist in project delivery from conceptual design through construction. You will collaborate with our staff and clients to assist in the production of presentation drawings, construction documents, written specifications and supporting materials.

A day in the life:

  • Produce technical drawings packages including plans, elevations, services drawings, and schedules.

  • Ensure quality of the deliverables is maintained and adhere to WSP standards.

  • Project delivery and coordinating models with external design consultants and database.

  • Support team with various projects, including specifications document, proposals and presentations.

  • Continuous development within the team to develop and standardize our Revit family library and templates.

We'd love to hear from you if you have…

  • Minimum of 3 years’ working experience creating working drawing packages using AutoCAD, Revit and BIM 360 environment including cloud-based collaboration, visual graphics, working with schedules and linking models.

  • Possess a technical degree in Drafting, Architecture, Interior Design, or applicable discipline.

  • A familiarity with hospitality operations and working knowledge of a commercial kitchen as well as commercial laundry facilities is considered a major plus.

  • Ability to place, create, and modify Revit families and parameters.

  • Create Revit models for BIM cross-disciplinary and project coordination.

  • Industry experience within a similar role working on Food & Beverage and Laundry projects would be beneficial but not essential as you will be given training.

  • Ability to manage own tasks and ensure delivery meets project schedule.

  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to daily tasks.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Ability to collaborate with Architects, Engineers, project team members and clients to ensure efficient data sharing.

  • Strong teamwork, communication and people skills, organizational and time-management skills

  • A positive attitude, outstanding work ethic and willingness to learn are crucial.
