GE Healthcare Lead Analytical / Senior Scientist in LC-MS in Oslo, Norway

Job Description Summary

The LC-MS scientist will have a key Subject Matter Expert (SME) role in our team supporting our growing contrast and molecular imaging development pipeline. The Analytical Chemistry department is scientifically responsible for developing, evaluating, and validating analytical methods, and the related analytical documentation packages for early phase research projects and new product introductions (NPIs) within pharmaceutical diagnostics (PDx). This position is also in close collaboration with supply chain operations and quality control chemistry to support analytical challenges across the commercial business as well.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop into the SME of LC-MS at PDx, which means that you will be engaged in hands-on work in sample preparation, operation of LC-MS instrumentation, analysis, interpretation of mass spectra, documentation, and reporting of results.

  • Primary focus is on supporting our development project pipeline with structural elucidation of unknown molecules, with occasional input on analytical tasks from the commercial side of the business.

  • Act as the instrument responsible person for our Q-Exactive mass spectrometer and facilitate external vendor relationships.

  • Develop and maintain our mass spectral libraries related to extractables and leachables.

  • Able to support, evaluate, develop, and validate analytical methods (LC-MS and HPLC-UV or HPLC with additional detectors) where and when needed.

  • Support the development of other analytical scientists in the field of mass spectrometry.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in analytical chemistry field or related, alternatively MSc with significant experience. Experience with LC-MS and additional HPLC methods are essential.

  • Highly motivated with a passion for rigorous science with a strong drive for continuous improvement.

  • Extensive experience in analytical sample preparation methodologies.

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in method development and validation principles

  • Having the ability to work in a dynamic, time-sensitive environment and prioritize work as assigned.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to fit into a multicultural environment.

  • English - fluent verbal and written.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge about the regulatory requirements for analytical methods across the drug development pipeline, including ICH and other applicable legislation & guidelines.

  • Experience in working under GMP or in an accredited laboratory.

  • Preferable Norwegian fluent verbal and written.

  • Experienced in different types of analytical LC-MS software.

  • Hands-on experience or knowledge of other analytical technique such as GC, ICP, and/or NMR.

  • Familiarity or working knowledge in applying Quality by Design (QbD) and Design of Experiments (DoE) principles.
