AVT Simulation Technical Writer-Security Clearance Eligibility Required in Orlando, Florida

Job Summary The Technical Writer will create and revise technical documents such as manuals, reports, brochures, contractual Government document deliveries, or articles.

This is an onsite (work in the office) position.   Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Writes and edits technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals.

  • Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.

  • Determines the type of publication that will best serve the project requirements.

  • Meets with engineers, programmers, and project managers to learn about specific products or processes.

  • Research product samples to fully understand product for documentation purposes

  • Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.

  • Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.

  • Creates or works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.

  • Gathers feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers to improve technical documents.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or university leading to an Associate’s or Art’s or higher degree. Substitutions: Four (4) years of professional experience can be substituted for two (2) years of the educational requirements.

  • Ability to present complex data in clear, concise text.

  • Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues.

  • Expert proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

  • Familiarity with US Government acquisition documentation

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.

    Employee may have prolonged period of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 15 pounds. Equipment/Software/Tools Used

  • Computer, copier/printer/fax machine, filing cabinets, label maker and scanner.

  • Basic computer operating system (Windows); Microsoft Office Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint), SharePoint
