We are seeking a visionary leader to guide and inspire our dynamic First-Year Advising team of 25 dedicated professionals. Summary of Responsibilities
• Oversight & Sucess: Maintain and assess organizational structure to align with institutional goals. Supervise three assistant directors and oversee a team of professional and peer advisors. Lead recruitment, training, supervision, and staff evaluations using performance metrics. Promote professional development to drive continuous improvement and address service gaps.
• Strategic Initiatives: Lead strategic planning and direction for First-Year Advising to support student success. Develop and implement protocols that promote proactive, data-driven
• interventions and holistic student development. Analyze advisement data to assess unit and advisor effectiveness and outcomes.
• Collaboration & Partnerships: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to enhance retention strategies and integrate proactive student support services. Serve as a first-year and advising expert on institutional committees and represent the department to internal and external stakeholders.
• Administration: Administer an operating budget consistent within university policy, and advocate for advising resources. Perform other duties in support of initiatives under the Associate Provost of Student Success and the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in a related discipline plus two years of progressively responsible professional experience in an academic counseling or student success related area in a higher education environment; or Bachelor's degree in a directly related field; plus two years of progressively responsible professional experience in a student success related area in a higher education environment; or, a ny combination of higher education and/or equivalent experience as stated totaling ten years.

Knowledge
• Knowledge of career and academic counseling practices, services, activities, and operations.
• W rking knowledge of student development theory and effective student success and retention strategies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of career assessment, counseling, and other related technology.
• Demonstrated knowledge of predictive analytics and the factors impacting student retention, success, satisfaction and graduation rates.
• Knowledge of financial and business analysis techniques.
• Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of effective organizational staffing, supervision, and personnel practices, including staff development and training.
• Knowledge of and commitment to UVU's mission and strategic directions.
Skills
• Demonstrated skill and experience utilizing data analytics to formulate and implement initiatives aligned with strategic retention planning and student success.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate to a wide range of audiences including students, their families, advisors, counselors, faculty, staff and administrators with the highest degree of professionalism and courtesy.
• Demonstrated skill in problem-solving and decision-making.
