Position Announcement
The Department of Transportation Technologies is seeking applicants to teach, plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
Summary of Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Prepare instructional materials (mock-ups, visual aids, and instruction sheets) as necessary, Instruct, manage, and supervise individual and groups in classrooms and laboratories by the following methods:
• Demonstration; Discussion; Visual aids; Conferences; Field trips
• Evaluates instruction and learning by means of written, oral, practical, and performance tests and maintains a student-oriented approach to education.
• Maintains and submits accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up.
• Assist counselors, department chairperson, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program.
• Requisitions, receives, and checks books, supplies, and equipment necessary for coursework.
• May serve on committees and attends faculty and other meetings as assigned.
• Obtaining and maintaining certification as required; Attending professional and specialty courses; Keeping abreast of new development trends, and techniques through participation in workshop seminars, actual work experience, and exchange programs with business and industry to maintain skills, state of the art, and knowledge.
• Considerable to extensive mental concentration to perform highly complex and responsible duties in the over-all management of instruction
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
High school diploma plus any combination of post high school education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling five years, in at least one of the mentioned areas.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
• Knowledge of ASE approved repair techniques.
• Knowledge of Automotive systems.
• Skills in refinishing, spot painting tinting and blending, metal straightening techniques, filler applications, surface preparation, assembly of bolt on parts including alignment of panels, and MIG welding.
• Skills in hydraulic fluid power systems, or diesel engines, or gas engines, or steering and suspension, or brakes, or transmissions, or electrical systems related to the auto industry.
• Ability to work under general direction and supervise students in classroom and other areas as appropriate.
• Ability to manage a large group of students, keep them on task, and critique performance levels.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a wide variety of settings.
