Weatherization/Energy Services Home Energy Auditor

Our Weatherization/Energy Services team is hiring an experienced installer or trades person to conduct comprehensive home energy assessments, prepare cost estimates, and develop work scopes for crews to follow. Responsibilities include:
Performing visual observations and diagnostic testing from attic to basement
Utilizing computer software to determine necessary energy-saving and health/safety measures
Educating clients on energy conservation
Completing work on client homes as needed to meet production goals

40 hours/week: optional 4-day (7:00 am - 5:30 pm) or 5-day (7:00 am - 3:30 pm) work schedule

Education/Training Requirements:
HS Diploma or GED; two-year technical degree, or five years construction and/or weatherization experience; HVAC experience preferred; basic knowledge of computers required; relevant knowledge of standard construction practices as they apply to energy conservation; obtain certifications as required (generally within 18 months of hire or establishment of new requirement); and valid, unrestricted New York State driver’s license

Technical and service skills required by duties; client service orientation; accountability for results; teamwork; adaptability; reliability; aptitude to effectively evaluate all systems in a home (i.e. HVAC system, insulation levels in walls and attics, mechanical ventilation, structural integrity, electrical, plumbing etc.) and identify any of their deficiencies; test-taking skills to enable passage of written tests to obtain program-required certifications; ability to think outside the box when evaluating a home and determining what work can be performed while meeting program standards
Work Environment and Abilities:
Work with tools, materials, and equipment typical in-home repair and weatherization; requires strenuous work inside and outside clients' dwellings in all types of weather conditions; frequent physical exertion, including lifting heavy loads, twisting, bending, climbing ladders, working at heights; need to practice safety procedures to prevent exposure to hazards encountered at worksites; must be able to pass occupational physical exams (DOT and respirator fit test) upon hire
Pay Range Guide:
Standard Start Rate - education and experience meet job requirements
Advanced Start Rate - education and experience exceed job requirements (subject to approval)
