Langan is seeking anIndustrial Hygienistto join its collaborative team in theSan Francisco Bay Area (San Francisco, Oakland or San Jose offices). This individual will serve a key function in performing diverse hazardous building materials surveys and abatement monitoring and duties as field representative, including: site explorations including soil borings and monitoring well installations; field tests; collection offield data and samples; monitoring of construction sites, and compiling data and preparing reports. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work autonomously as an outward facing representative of Langans Hazmat sector, fueling the growth of Langans Environmental discipline.

Job Responsibilities

• Performsurveys and project monitoring of environmental and building abatement projects relating to asbestos, lead based paint, PCBs and other contaminants. Determinepresence of hazardous materials and the appropriate remediation solution;
• Analyzethe project site and implementhigh-quality solutions to both routine and more complex field and/or laboratory problems;
• Prepareproposals by incorporating scientific knowledge to determine cost estimates and specifications for abatement/remediation services;
• Assistwith the preparation and modification of various scientific documents including reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates and design plans for projects;
• Conductenvironmental sampling of soils, water, dust and indoor air as needed;
• Preparereports documenting field investigations and analytical results;
• Perform monitoring services including overseeing abatement/remediation contractors performing work, documenting abatement/remediation work, conducting post abatement/remediation visual inspections and clearance/re-occupancy air or other applicable sampling;
• Conductfile reviews, site reconnaissance, and preparereports;
• Assistother work groups within the same or different office locations and/or within the same or different discipline on an as-needed basis; and
• Performother duties as requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Geology or Science;
• Licensure/Certifications:
  • State Asbestos Inspector and Project Monitor;
  • State Licensed Lead Inspector;
  • Related licenses in other states and additional licenses (Lead Risk Assessor, Asbestos Designer) are considered a plus;
• 1+ years of work-related experience;
• Strong attention to detail;
• Ability to work well individually and within groups;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; and
• Ability to work during evenings and/or weekends.

Base Salary Range:$70,000 - $83,000. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as related work experience, market conditions, education/training, certifications and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills. This position is also eligible for straight-time overtime and participation in the firm's annual bonus and performance review program. Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm.
