What’s the role?

Body+Soul, Australia’s number one health and wellbeing media brand, is looking for a talented Executive Editor to join our team. A leading voice and trusted source for 20 years, Body+Soul is a rapidly growing multi-platform brand that includes a national print product appearing every weekend in The Sunday Telegraph (NSW), Herald Sun (VIC), Sunday Mail (QLD and SA) and Sunday Tasmanian. Reporting to the Editor-In-Chief, this exciting full-time role will play an integral part in the future success and growth of the brand as we break the health stories that matter to Australia.

About the role:

  • Focus on the ideation, creation and execution of exceptional multi-platform editorial content that will drive traffic and audience engagement across all channels, spanning editorial pillars including health, wellness, fitness, nutrition, sex and relationships

  • Work closely with the Editor-In-Chief to lead the team and ensure Body+Soul maintains its position as Australia's number one health media brand

  • Play a key role in implementing the Body+Soul vision/strategy, with the objective of growing the brand across print, digital, social, video and audio channels

  • Drive a digital-first approach to print content, working closely with the team to foster multi-platform thinking with every piece of content we create and commission

  • Oversee a strong pipeline of timely, newsworthy covers, playing a key role in securing exclusives, top talent and stories that will drive traffic, headlines and PR for the brand

  • Commission internal and external writers, edit copy to the highest editorial standards, and track/manage budgets

  • Work closely with the Editor-In-Chief, commercial and marketing departments, key stakeholders across the business and the News Health Network to execute major brand campaigns and initiatives, including Health of the Nation, The Fit List and wellness travel

  • Help drive a smart, positive and agile team culture, constantly looking for new ways of working that will drive efficiency and ensure we're focused on the work that really counts

  • Maintain a digitally-led editorial calendar and forward plan, working closely with the team on compelling content that spans all Body+Soul's major pillars

  • Represent Body+Soul in market, helping to build strategic relationships and partnerships that will elevate and grow the brand

  • Deputise for the Editor-In-Chief when required, and be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of this rapidly-growing brand

Who are you?

  • A senior editor, leader and multi-platform content creator with an equally strong background in digital and print journalism

  • A seasoned trend spotter, with a finely tuned radar for what’s making waves both globally and locally, and a genuine passion for health, fitness, mental and physical wellness and breaking news

  • A positive, proactive team player with a strategic mind and deep understanding of how content will succeed across all channels

  • Someone who thrives under pressure, constantly looks for solutions and proactively puts forward fresh thinking and ideas that will grow the Body+Soul brand

  • Commercially-minded, and able to juggle multiple deadlines, projects and priorities across the full suite of the brand with ease

  • Someone with a thorough understanding of SEO, digital analytics and strong experience in platform-specific content creation across a variety of mediums, in particular video
